Hey everyone!

I´d like to play a new Highlander-Deck. I want to play a deck thats sneaks big creatures into play but i´m not very creative at the moment... So please could you make some suggestions to me for a Deck that powers things like: Hypergenesis, Reanimator, Sneakattack etc.

Here's my first draft of Hypergenesis that went 3-2 yesterday in a tournament with 32 people: http://iki.fi/~pyyhttu/magic/highlander/hypergenesis.txt

That one is quite bad having its own strange design approach (Living Death & Cyclers), and I already have a better design whipped up together, which I believe is better off following Nastaboi's and Tiggupiru's designs. Cascade has been their brainchild after all.

From the same directory listing you can find an UB-Reanimator shell to toy with, if you like that one better.

I think you should take a look at Nastabois version, which is really cool using hardly as pyytthu said, cascade and hypergenesis/eureka.
I asked him afterwards for sneak attack as I thought it would mach in really cool...

meteora

Thanks so far! but where can I find Nastaboi´s list?
I already heard about that one...

Now to your list - I am quite a fan of Sneak attack since I did crazy things with borgadan hellkite vesuvan shapeshifter and momentary blink so I think this would work for me, too let´s see what further results will lead to - i´ll let you know what list it´´s going to be in the end.

if hypergenesis/eureka is countered is there a backup-plan or = game over? (besides from casting the big guys).

meteora

Hey pyyhttu! How exactly do you unable Living Death did I overread anything that puts your creatures in your grave?

pyyhttu

@Malz: There is no any other backup against control than to maybe use the surprise strategy in the first game or then try to go off as fast as possible. I've come to prefer this latter tactic.

Do note that this deck was only put together in hopes to get into aggro curve and beat the hell out of them. We call this "refining the format" here in Funland or something like that. It really doesn't even try to win anything else.

If you want to try to prepare against control, then you could mix in something such as Force of Will or Misdirection. Or maybe even Unmask or Ricochet Trap, but they have cmc of four... (bad with cascade).

@meteora: that Living Death was just thrown in because of synergy with my cycling dudes and the game breaking effect it has on the board. But that strategy proved to little bit flawed (although Living Death won me one game) because I noticed that cycling into Hypergenesis became more apparentapparent (although I won one game with suspended Hypergenesis, too).

As vacation startet for me right yesterday i´ll use the next week to get some more into the deck and try to figure out what build i can create...

I would like to take a look at Nastabois's decklist too. Is there a link or a file I could get? thx a lot

As there has been some interest and as I am working on a new version of the deck, I thought I could post my Hypergenesis list with comments.

Sturmgott

I also built a version of the HG deck this weekend.

Imho all versions posted up to now lack very important cards:

Decree of Silence
Debtor's Knell
Ritual of Subdual
Confiscate
Take Possession

I'm still searching for more 5cc+-cards to fulfill a protective function, that is preventing the opponent from playing WoG or the likes. Any more ideas?

meteora

The first thing: Why do this solutions have to be that expensive cc4 Is also possible...

Well if you want to go that way - There are for Example:

Dovescape
Eldrazi Monument (you usually don´t need to keep it)
Nethervoid

But watch out! If you have to many protective spells you`ll lack of Pressure!

Tiggupiru

I haven't done pretty much anything to this deck after I initially just threw it together, but I tried to focus on hasted creatures as they can't WoG if they are dead. The problems is the quality of those creatures plummets like Greece's economy after the few best ones.

I also recommend Akroma's Memorial, which gives haste to all your creatures and is pure sickness in the mirror. Dropping this with the genesis usually results in haste kill on the same turn as they can't chump well because of flying and trample. If they were to survive the turn and were able to stabilize after Genesis, this makes all creatures you draw much more dangerous.

One dude crossed my way: !Nullstone Gargoyle!  I think he does the thing you want!
