UGB Oath

Hi guys,

Next month I will organise our very first Highlander tournament here in my area.
I got to the idea to use an oath deck which would give me infinite turns.

Since I do not know all the good stuff and the right numbers on removal/draw/counters etc I was hoping if you guys could give me some help.

The goal is to oath into scrounger and then oath the rest of the deck putting the time warps on the bottom of the libary.

Hi,
there are things to discuss:

Win Strategy:
Battlefield Scrounger is'nt very impressive. You didn't played a creature in your whole game and then there comes the only creature which had to win. All the removal from your opponent is collected in his hand, so this strategy is very risky.
I would prefer a simplier ancient strategy: oathing into Emrakul or Empyrial Archangel. Both creatures are very good protected(except emrakul against karakas).

Color Choice:
Wherefore you play black except Demonic Tutor and Shred Memory's there are better white cards for a classic 3C-Bant-Oath:

Clutch of the Undercity < Moat
Mystical Teachings < Sterling Grove
Tainted Pact      < Idylic Tutor
Chainer's Edict   < Oblivion Ring
Consuming Vapors  < Rout
Damnation         = Wrath of God
Decree of Pain    < Decree of Justice
Pernicious Deed   < Day of Judgement
Putrefy           < Swords to Plowshares
Perplex           < Path to Exile
Liliana Vess      < Gideon Jura

Lands:

Dimir Aqueduct, Golgari Rot Farm, Simic Growth Chamber      These Lands are exrem weak against Wasteland, Rishadian Port and oll other Ld. This risk is too high, you would lose 2 mana and 1 or 2 Rounds.
You need to play Forbidden Orchard this card beside Life from the Loam and Oath is the key card in such a deck.

Temple of the False God            This Land accelerts you from 4 to 6 Mana but before it does nothing. And you don't play many spells with 6 mana (only capsize and Mindslaver)
Throw enough goblins at any problem and it should go away. At the very least, there'll be fewer goblins.

Well that's just simply not true! (Sorry for edit'ing when quoting you). If you put the marks in reverse, you're right!


The idea looks interesting but yeah, like G.Pile said: It's too risky to only play one creature who doesn't have any evasive abilities like Shroud, Protection or Indestructibility.

I think what Piledriver says is right.

Play better creatures at least two to get not risky if draw one or get one away (Emrakul, Progenitus, Empyrial Archangel, Iona, Hellkite Overloard there are lots)
The white version seems much stronger at the moment for me cause you have the better Planeswalkers, Globals, Moat etc. and it's then more a crontrol deck with Oath.
I would play more basics cause you suck against Price, Moon, B2B
Play better land toolbox... You get lot's of stuff in grave for free with Oath and you play Gifts Intuition Loam so you have to play Wasteland and I would see Maze
as a must have as well.
