(so I unfortunately kept my cards which I offered as price support for +19 players)

1st – Sebastian Planz - GBW Rock
2nd – Tobias Bruch - UW Control
3rd – Björn Ortmann - UWr Midrange

I followed my plan to Top3 with different decks every tournament. This time I chose UWr as I wanted to play an Aggrocontrol with maximum non-basic hate which was a bad metagame call as I played against UW, RDW, WW (but also against two 3C midrange decks).

The deck felt OK but less powerful than my usual Bant Lists I use for bigger tournaments. The UWr creature quality and mana curve is A LOT worser than in Bant. Also certainly UWr misses the nut draws Bant can offer with 1st turn mana accleration. However, if you face a lot of non-basics this is definately a very good deck choice:

I think you didn't really notice that those are the places 2-4. 

Place one (picking prices before UW Control) was some GWB rock midrange stuff deck. I could try to get my hands on that list.


Personally, I failed hard. I notice that I play way too few games and lack practice regularly and make bad decisions. In addition, I can't really manage to adept my pet deck (Esper Control) to the metagame. For yesterday, I didn't pack enough spot removal / defensive early drops for all the pressuring turn 1 and 2 plays by my opponents (Junk, BUGw 1st place list from Hanau with minor changes, BYE, WW and Naya) and lost many games before Sweeper and a big drop could stabilize. Nevertheless, I had a lot of fun and it was worth it to just take the time although I didn't really have it.

I didn't want to offend you, I just think you didn't notice that GWB deck since you were sitting in the back rows during price picking.

And yes, I meant that list from the 1st place match. I think it's somewhat 'new' (and better) to an extent as it is a little less mana hungry, faster and more flexible but misses the real big big bombs for lategame. Thanks for clarifying.

I asked the winner to publish his list here. Also, my performance on Saturday was modest. While loosing some games due to color screw and beeing screwed in general, I lost the other games thanks to being greedy and making the right decisions at the wrong time . All in all it was a nice day and it was good to see that at least in Dortmund we have a very diverse meta:

Esper Control, Naya, GWB Rock, 5C Goodstuff, WW, RDW, UWr Midrange, UW Control, BUGw Aggro-Control, UBG Reanimator + one deck I can't remember.

i've added lots of life gain because of the december meta and it even worked versus red deck wins. i'd like to play some more discard spells next time as there are duress and tide hollow sculler missing.
