So how do people feel about Pithing Needle in HL decks? Here are some conflicting observations:
1. In some previous decks I had run a copy but it seemed too situational and rarely got real use; I left it behind and haven't tried it since.
2. It happens often enough that there is some threat or another (with activated ability or -ies, of course) on the board that I wish I could shut down cheaply and quickly but couldn't find such an answer to it.
3. I haven't seen it in any of the better builds here (which I consider to be a pretty good indicator).

So do I in UW-Fish. It's a favorite card of Sturmgott in his U-Skies too (http://www.magicplayer.org/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=1589).
It handle:
* Planeswalker
* Library of Alexandria
* Survival (sometimes ;))
so lots of prime-evils :) It's definately worth playing but of course not in every deck. I think pure aggro do not need a copy to change for the better.

Aha - obviously I missed it when I looked at that thread earlier... although I don't recall seeing it elsewhere either. And obviously Nastaboi knows what he's doing, so that's a good endorsement.

Just took a look over there... and he lists the Needle as one of the deck's MVP's.

As well as a lot of other things... in a recent game in which I was trying out one of my aggro decks, a Cursed Scroll single-handedly destroyed my position and took the game... and I even had an Enlightened Tutor in hand which would have helped me retrieve the Needle... if it had only been in the deck...
its quite good specially in aggro, IMO, since it can cancel maze of ith, zuran orb, PW's and being at 1 CMC it doesnt worsen your mana curve, ideally is to play it with trinket mage.
I´ve also been thinkig of adding it, but besides PWs there arent any rely (big) threats that this would save me from.
