Tournament Organizer: Vazdru

Judge: hitman

Modus: Swiss-Rounds best-of-three, play-offs best-of-five

Rules Enforcement Level: Regular

Starting Fee: EUR 6

One deck: The deck code (Cockatrice) has to be posted before the tournament starts. Decks can't be changed during the whole tournament (deck codes become locked as soon as the tournament starts).

Matchplay: Matches have to be played within a period of about two weeks. The staff announce a deadline for each round at Sunday, 9 pm CET. If both don't appear, it is a draw. If only one player appears he gets the win if he used the "[HLL]Meeting Point" for match-dating, otherwise it's a draw. (Note: Thereby using the Meeting Point instead of PM or that kind is highly recommended!)

Report: The winner of each match has to post the result and (at least a small) report as soon as possible but no later than one week after the deadline of this round. The looser can take this over or can write a report too if he likes to.

Vacation: Each player can announce a vacation period of 1 week once during the whole tournament (Swiss + Top X). In that case the period for playing the match prolongates for everyone by 1 week. A matchplay-period can't be prolongated more than once. The staff will announce a new deadline for the round in case a vacation period has been requested.

Prices: You will find the price-pool over here: http://www.magicplayer.org/forum/index.php?topic=1344.0 It will be updated and become locked as soon as the tournament starts.

Rounds: Depends on number of registered players:
2: 1 round
3-4: 2 rounds
5-8: 3 rounds
9-16: 4 rounds
17-32: 5 rounds
33+: 6 rounds

Play-offs:
8-16 players: play-offs TOP 4
17+ players: play-offs TOP 8

Deck-Building: Current Banned List at the beginning of the tournament. Unban Watch List cards are unavailable.

Decklists must be send to hitman before the tournament starts. Top 4 rather Top 8 will be published before play-offs.

The results and match-report of the last swiss round will be gathered by hitman. He will publish the results as soon all results are available.

Higher Swiss Standing
chooses the starting player in g1 in play-offs.

If you have any questions, contact Vazdru or hitman.

The small print: In case Cockatrice becomes unavailable for more than 2 weeks, the tournament would become annulled and everyone get back their starting fee (no prices). I hope and expect this won't happen.

#24
Valid during January 1st, 2018 0:00 CET until March 30nd, 2018 24:00 CET.

Cards on the following list will be closely observed and are potential candidates for a banning on April 15th, 2018.

Back to Basics
Blood Moon
Demonic Tutor
Dig Through Time
Entomb
Imperial Seal
Mana Drain
Oath of Druids
Stoneforge Mystic *New*
Tainted Pact
Tolarian Academy
Treasure Cruise
Yawgmoth's Will

Cards from the following list are still banned but will be under testing for a potential unbanning on April 15th, 2018.

Birthing Pod *New*
Gifts Ungiven *New*

Reasonings:

Stoneforge Mystic:

Stoneforge Mystic has been unbanned eight months ago and has been tested in many games. It proved itself as still be viable but not outsstanding or even formatdefining. The community feedback has backed up this impression so this card won't be closer observed anymore.

Birthing Pod:

We rediscussed Birthing Pod and the predominant feedback of the community was that this every-turn-repeatable tutor with great combo-potential is not be welcome currently. So we decided to stop observing Birthing Pod for an unban in the next months.

Gifts Ungiven:

There are currently discussions concerning the ,,weakest" cards on the banned list and a big part of the community thinks Gifts Ungiven is definitely a candidate which should be observed and discussed thoroughly in terms of their potential impact on the format . It has been banned in 2012. Since then Gifts Ungiven was an on/off-candidate for unban-watchlist and therefore always on the edge. The community feedback gave the deciding pulse to add Gifts Ungiven to watchlist again. Please let us know how you judge a potential unban.

You are locked in if you balance the starting fee and send the decklist to hitman via PM in time, no later than Jan., 14th.

Notes:
The seeding list will be based on the HLL-Ladder-Rating. If two players have the same rating the higher game-percantage decides the position (http://www.magicplayer.org/forum/index.php?topic=121.30) in it.
Matches basically played on cockatrice, that's why you have to post the secruity code before tournament starts. But you can meet each other for playing of course as well if there is a chance to :)

Thoule Team Highlander rules - for 4 Players

Comment: Originated in Thoule Gaming Club in Karlsruhe, Germany, 1993, this format is played since then. It is slow compared to others and not very competitive, but adds extra fun to players searching complexity in gameplay and communication. We do not play it in stores, but in the club and at private tables. Cook for your friends at home and exchange the decks between each other to get into the feeling of this slow format.

While there is a banlist, you can use the rules even for other cardpools. We used the rules for Crapdraft (drafting with randomly selected ,,worthless" cards) and it still works.
The outstanding rule is playing permanents to teampartners. No other format allows this. (Yes, in emperor it is possible to move creatures)

Rules: Deck of minimum 100 different cards (except Basic Lands), Banlist
30 individual life per teampartner, individual battlefield and turns, Commander mulligan rule
In original Thoule Rules, private communication including codes is forbidden, all communication is open to opposing team. Showing a card or morph to teampartner means: Show it to all players!
Dieroll winning team defines starting team. Then starting team selects one member  as starting player. Other team selects a member going second. Then second player of starting team, then the last player. This sequence of 4 players is kept for playing turns and priority
Important rule changes compared to other multiplayer formats:

1.   Playing permanents to partner: While playing a land or casting a spell that will become a permanent (Creature, Artifact, Enchantment, Planeswalker) you may select your teampartner becoming the controller of the permanent (but not of the spell). Only for permanent spells and lands, not for instants, sorceries and effects.

2.   Prolonged summoning sickness for creatures played from your teampartner: It expires the second turn they start under your control

3.   Attack two opponents: For each creature attacking, attacking player selects defending player. Each attacked player may block with creatures under own control only

4.   Extra untap for creatures that attacked: Creatures that tapped as cost for attacking will untap in untap phase of the teampartner. Treat teampartners untap phase as your own, but only for the permanents that were tapped by attacking with them as creatures. This remains when teampartner has lost the game. Use untap phase of second opponent in sequence then instead.
A losing player (not more than 0 life or drawing from empty library or effect stating loses the game) exiles his hand, library, controlled permanents and graveyard. Permanents owned but not controlled stay on the battlefield. They will be exiled as soon as they leave the battlefield. Permanents controlled but not owned are exiled in owners Exile zone
A card stating a player wins the game means both opponents lose the game
A card stating a player cannot lose means he will continue to play regardless of life total. Impossible draws and statements ,,loses the game" are skipped
Game ends, when both players in one team have lost - except a card still in play states a remaining player cannot win (means this game goes on even with no opponents - try to get rid of the demon :)
A game where all players have lost is a draw

Prices: You will find the price-pool over here: http://www.magicplayer.org/forum/index.php?topic=1312.0. It will be updated and become locked as soon as the tournament starts.

Prices: You will find the price-pool over here: http://www.magicplayer.org/forum/index.php?topic=1290.0. It will be updated and become locked as soon as the tournament starts.

Rounds: Depends on number of registered players:
2: 1 round
3-4: 2 rounds
5-8: 3 rounds
9-16: 4 rounds
17-32: 5 rounds
33+: 6 rounds

Play-offs:
8-16 players: play-offs TOP 4
17+ players: play-offs TOP 8

Deck-Building: Current Banned List at the beginning of the tournament. Unban Watch List cards are unavailable.

Decklists must be send to hitman before the tournament starts. Top 4 rather Top 8 will be published before play-offs.

Off-Topic / magic-league.com // Rating

hi

anyone knows what happened to magic-league.com?
it's down for two days now
same fate like mtgpulse.com?
WOTC started some kind of "purge" maybe?

I used http://www.magic-league.com/rating/?view=calculator for updating HLL Ladder recently
but it seems all tools I've ever used vanished
maybe it is time to create my own excel-tool but all I've found was this:
=F2-log10((16/IF(G2<0,16+G2,G2))-1)*400

with F2 = own rating
and G2= change in your ratings
(note: 0,16 = K-Value 16 / so eg 0,32 for Value 32 and so on)

but it haven't worked for me so far
any suggestions for keeping HLL Ladder alive?

does anyone have a tool?
