Hi!

Our community ran a HL League that started end of June. The tournament was divided in group playouts and a final day with top 8 double elimination plajavascript:void(0);yoffs.

We had 28 players participating in four groups where everybody had to play everybody. Only the two best of each group would advance to the finals, which were held last week.

The final standings are as follows:

Group A
1 Oliver Säuberlich
2 Alexander Bastian
3 Maximilian Stief
4 Sebastian Nötzel
5 Jürgen Fischer
6 Ulrich Marzenell

Group B
1 Achim Günzel
2 Boris Hoischen
3 Christoph Reuss-Klingmüller
4 Christian Hauck
5 Patrick Kunz
6 Can Özen
7 Marco Pino

Group C
1 Manuel Hauck
2 Thomas Stier
3 Kai Thiemann
4 Stefan Czolk
5 Jonathan Nowak
6 Markus Gölz
7 Dominik Luis

Group D
1 Alexander Thomas
2 Philip Ehrle
3 Giuseppe Iacono
4 Ronald Lehmann
5 Alexander Rosenberger
6 Hüseyin Balikci

During group play everybody could use up to 10 proxies. Decks could be changed between matches.

On the finals day, everybody was locked in to one deck with no proxies.

Thanks for your report and the deck lists, Maqi. Your tournament system looks like fun to me.

It seems that your playgroup is in love with Planeswalkers  :)

I like the first list as it has a clear plan with back-to-back foundamental turns 3+4. I never tested Bant with all this 2CC ramp myself, but it looks like a good idea, beside the possibility to build it more aggroish. There are just some cards left (e.g. Edric, Aether Vial) which belong in a more aggressive build IMO.

The second Bant list seems too clunky for me nowadays. I had similar lists before (because the sole card power is tempting), but sometimes lost because I did not find grip in time. Certainly if you have the right draws...but this happed too seldom for me. Therefore I streamlined it to hit harder in the face, therefore most of the walkers had to go, but more ramp is certainly also an out to that.

I wonder if the 4C aggro list asks for Kiki-Jiki to have a combo-out for difficult game states/matchups. This will certainly make the mana base requirements challenging. But this will also open the deck for other goodies (e.g. Searing Blaze, Thundermaw Hellkite...)

I also have a huge amount of chinese and japanese foil HL staples not listed yet,  which I would like to downgrade to english foil. Just let me know!

I finally managed to get a hold on the missing decklist - Alexander Thomas' 3rd place deck.
His Ub-Artifact-Control list is now completed (see the first post above).
